Singapore - Volkswagen Singapore is pleased to announce the launch of the all-new, all-electric ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo. Singapore is the first market in the ASEAN region to launch the ID. Buzz and prospective buyers can now secure their units, with prices for the ID. Buzz 5-seater, 6-seater, 7-seater and ID. Buzz Cargo starting from SGD 299,900, SGD 324,900, SGD 319,900 and SGD 156,900 respectively.

The ID. Buzz took the world by storm as a concept vehicle in 2017, capturing hearts, minds and awards with its progressive styling and sustainable qualities.

Today, Volkswagen Singapore unveiled the ID. Buzz in Singapore with a memorable launch event at Sentosa, channelling the spirit of adventure, fun and togetherness that has characterized Volkswagen minibuses for decades.

An aesthetic inspired by the iconic Kombi

The striking and visually appealing ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo models are spiritual successors to the legendary Volkswagen Type 1 Kombi and Transporter, taking thematic styling cues and updating them with a modern outlook. The ID. Buzz also comes in four vibrant bi-colour options, conveying the nostalgia of the classic two-tone Kombi bodies, as well as three single-colour options.

Both the ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo are developed and produced using the Volkswagen Group's MEB modular electric car platform at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles headquarters in Hanover.

Driven by sustainability

The development behind the two ID. Buzz models was driven by Volkswagen's concern for the environment. Sustainable materials are key to the ID. Buzz, as leather and other materials of animal origin are replaced by eco-friendly substitutes.

The steering wheel rim is made of polyurethane, while sporting the same high-quality look as leather with a similar feel. Another key example to share is how the seat covers are made from SEAQUAL® yarn, with threads consisting of approximately 10 percent marine plastic and approximately 90 percent PES (recycled PET bottles), in two tones as tribute to the model's heritage.

The best of performance and efficiency All ID

Buzz variants are powered by an 210kW MEB APP550 drivetrain, with a capacity of 86kWh (LWB) and 79kWh (NWB/ID. Buzz Cargo), a range of 487km (LWB) and 461km (NWB/ID. Buzz Cargo), sharing a DC charging time from 10% to 80% of 26 minutes, and an 11kW AC charging time from 0% to 100% of 7 hours and 30 minutes.

The new MEB electric powertrain is efficient and economical, focusing on maximising battery energy, lowering energy consumption and prolonging the battery's life through gentler usage. This is achieved while also improving on power and torque for the ID. Buzz models, resulting in greater driver engagement.

The ID. Buzz models also offer impressive manoeuvrability, with the NWB and ID. Buzz Cargo boasting a turning radius of 11.1 meters, and 11.8 meters for the LWB model.

The next level in safety

The ID. Buzz NWB and LWB models come with 7 airbags, as well as the latest in IQ.DRIVE safety systems including a new Advanced Driver Attention & Drowsiness Monitor, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Area View, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Proactive Passenger Protective System and Front Assist.

Volkswagen's IQ.Light technology also finds its way to the ID. Buzz, with the LWB and NWD models sporting distinctive LED Matrix Headlights and 3D LED Rear combination lights. These distinctive illumination platforms add character to the models' outlook. Meanwhile, the ID. Buzz Cargo features LED headlamps and LED rear combination lamps for optimal visibility.

On the NWB and LWB variants, IQ.Light technology also finds its way to the Digital Cockpit, providing intuitive visual communication signals for the driver, making important vehicle information and notifications more understandable without distracting from the road. This enhances safety and ensures seamless interaction between driver and vehicle.

Peak practicality

With its compact MEB electric drive and its battery integrated in the vehicle floor, space is in abundance in the ID. Buzz. In the 6- and 7-seater, the third row of seats is removable, while the second row of seats can be folded down on all three variants. With just 1 row up, 2,469 litres of space can be accessed, while an adjustable multiflexboard can be configured to carry an extra layer of light items.

For ease of access, the electric sliding doors and Easy Open electric tailgate on the ID. Buzz can be accessed via a virtual pedal with the sweep of a foot.

Volkswagen's renowned user-friendliness is on display with a wide variety of storage spaces and pockets that can accommodate smaller devices and items. Three USB-C ports are provided as a standard for supplying power to various devices used by the occupants in the ID. Buzz, with two of the ports located next to the steering column and the third in the front passenger door.

To further accentuate the modular nature of the ID. Buzz, the NWB and LWB variants come with the Buzz Box, a cleverly designed removable center console that can be used in either the first or second row of seats. It can also be fully removed to create a clear path between all rows of seating.

Comfort, class and charisma

The design inspiration provided by the classic Kombi is also evident in the interior of the ID. Buzz, with a linear dashboard that carries stacked elements, including its multifunction steering wheel and both digital displays.

The ID. Buzz has been given a personality thanks to IQ.Light technology. Upon entering and exiting the vehicle, the driver and passengers are greeted by special lighting sequences that make each journey more personable.

The ID. Buzz sports a high-quality, chic and cozy interior, with its 30-colour ambient lighting providing occupants the opportunity to add a personal touch to their journeys. The 6- and 7-seater LWB variants include a 12+1-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, while the 5-seater variant offers a 9-speaker Volkswagen audio system.

For added refinement, the 6- and 7-seater LWB variants house an electrochromic panoramic "Smart Glass" roof that switches between transparent and opaque at the touch of a finger. The newly developed panoramic sunroof is the largest glass roof ever produced by Volkswagen.

The NWB and LWB variants offer powered captain's chairs for the driver and front passenger that are equipped with memory capability, lumbar support, and massage functionality, as well as 3-zone Air-Care Climatronic automatic climate control.

The ID. Buzz Cargo gets down to business

Recently winning the award for 2024's "Medium Electric Van of the Year" from Company Car & Van Magazine, the ID. Buzz Cargo is a stylish option that offers a distinctive identity to any business's commercial mobility needs. Its wide-opening rear wing doors lead to its wooden-covered load compartment that can accommodate up to 3.9 cubic meters, with scratch-resistant walls. The ID. Buzz cargo boasts a payload carrying capacity of 770kg, also accessible via sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle.
